UNIT THREE SUMMARY

“What Can We Learn From Success and Failure?”

            The definition of success changes with age. What people want to achieve when they are in high school is different from what they want to achieve when they are 20, 30, or 40, or even 70. There are various ways to measure success, it’s not just about making lots of money. So that, there are many ways to be successful, among them are: ways of thinking, easy goals, seriousness, action, hard work, focus, and struggle.

            Achieving our goals should be one of the several important things in our life, so we need to set a realistic goal and have determination. But success is not always a good thing. Success in one area can bring problems in others, so trying to become successful shouldn’t take over our life.

            It brings to another point, that sometimes, it’s necessary to fail. We shouldn’t be afraid of failure, because we can learn from it. It makes us stronger and more able to overcome life’s problems.

            I’ll take example from what I myself have experienced. So far, I’m happy that I study at the schools I wanted, I’m proud that I’ve graduated from junior high school with great grades. And sometimes, I simply feel successful if I get good score on exam. Of course, there were many difficulties, such as laziness and the incapability in doing something. I have faced many failures and learned from that. I learned to do my best, but on the other hand, at the end, I just let fate do its job.

            Behind every successes, I believe, there will be failures. Failure is an important stage on the road to success. I admit, I feel that I fail when I had a remedy at school, as simple as that. At some times, I was mad and upset. They made me felt like I didn’t have the mood to do anything. But later, I learned that I had to let it go and made a move in order to be better.

            I like one of Winston S. Churchill’s quotes : “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” Whenever I read this quote, I become more and more ready to have failures in my life and take lessons from it.
